What is IMAP?

Internet Message Access Protocol(IMAP) is an Internet standard protocol used by email clients to retrieve email messages from a mail server over a TCP/IP connection.

Synchronisation of emails and folder on mail server. Better for multiple device usage. All emails are kept on server for limited time. Much better than POP3.

User can partially download e-mail. Option to create mailboxes and folders.
